Dr. Stephen Paul Edwards

The Venus Fly Trap Poem is where it all begins—the spark that ignites the romance, obsession, and chaos between Dr. Stephen Paul Edwards and Tomoz. Freshly divorced for the 4th time and searching for real love, he encounters the ‘one’ online: pictures of her riding horses, living in Brazil, Paris, Miami, and Los Angeles. Extremely tall, poised, mesmerizing, unpredictable.

Their playful dance of emails, hesitations, and first encounters—flowers, rooftop cabanas, champagne, laughter, and long walks—captures the thrill of a new attraction and the gravity of what is to come. This poem marks the beginning of The Venus Fly Trap, the first heartbeat of a story where love, desire, and danger collide, and two unforgettable people begin a connection that will change everything.

It was time to heal and move on with my life.

I was single again and getting divorced from my 4th wife.

I needed to find my true love, the love of my life.

I’d had enough disappointments, enough trouble and strife.

So, I looked to find love on the internet, on a matchmaking site.

For a while, it seemed useless; nothing was going right.

Then I came across a tall, dark princess with a crazy name.

At first, she was so flaky, I thought she wasn’t game.

Nevertheless, I emailed her and plied her with my very best stuff.

But nothing seemed to work; it just wasn’t good enough.

I repeatedly read every word of her profile and tried to relate. In the end, I think I came off more than a little desperate.

Somehow, I got her number and built up my courage to call.

From the moment I heard her voice, I knew we would have a ball.

She said, “My name is Tomoz. What is your name?

I said, “Stephen.” Which, by comparison, seemed really lame.

Her voice was so sexy, she was elegant, sophisticated, funny, and witty.

I was blown away by her and thought my chances were at best, iffy.

But finally, she gave in and gave me a chance.

I knew I had to raise my game and bring the romance.

After standing me up twice, I finally pinned her down.

She agreed to a date in her hometown.

I made reservations for dinner and a rooftop cabana at the Birchwood hotel.

I had never been there before, so I was hoping it would go well.

I texted Tomoz and told her reservations had been made.

I told her it was going to be amazing, hoping her interest wouldn’t fade.

I asked her if she had a favorite flower, and she said, “Bird of Paradise.”

No way, I love that flower, it’s a bit expensive though, is there another you think is nice?”

“Venus fly trap.” Was her reply in 1 second flat.

So, I stuck with the first one, because I couldn’t find that.

Friday came around, and I felt like a young boy, crazy but true.

I ordered a spectacular arrangement to take and bought some chocolates too.

I arranged to pick her up at 7:30, and dinner reservations were at 8.

I also ordered a dozen red roses for the table and made sure everything would look great.

I know everything is “Just Supposed” to happen, but I was leaving nothing to fate.

This was my big chance to find true love, my perfect soulmate.

So, I drove to the restaurant at 2 to make sure everything was going according to plan.

I checked everything out, and the hotel staff thought I was a very strange man.

I met with our waitress, who was fabulous and promised to be everything we needed and to take great care.

I even checked out the cabana and had a backgammon set prepared.

It was all so over the top; the bar manager just stared.

I went to pick up Tomoz in the Rolls-Royce.

I called her to let her know I was on my way; it was good to hear her voice.

As she was coming down, I went to the bathroom inside.

When I came out Tomoz, was already outside.

She was putting lipstick on in her compact mirror. What a sight.

I came up behind her and said “Hello” to give her a fright.

Although she showed no sign, she just took it in her stride.

I was already in awe before I reached her side.

I showed her the arrangement of Birds of Paradise.

She squealed with joy and said, “Oh, they look so nice.”

When we arrived at the Birchwood, all the staff waved, said Hello Mr. Edwards, hope you both have a good time.

Tomoz, was probably thinking, “He must bring girls here all the time.”

So, I explained I had never been there before.

That I had made reservations and come early to be sure.

Tomoz, smiled, and I knew I had done good.

We were going to have a wonderful time at the Birchwood.

Dinner was amazing, and the waitress was a delight.

So Tomoz, decided to give her the roses at the end of the night.

After dinner, we went up to the rooftop cabana.

When Tomoz, walked out of the elevator, everybody just stopped and stared at the sight.

6 foot 5 with the body of a goddess, it was a sight to see.

I just couldn’t believe this goddess was with me!

We sat and talked, played backgammon, and I won!

We were having the time of our lives; it was so much fun.

Then Tomoz beat me mercilessly, and all the fun was gone.

We drank sparkling rosé champagne and got lost in each other.

People were staring and feeling closer to their own lover.

Two people in love are a sight like no other.

We shared stories about our lives with one another.

Then we walked together down the main street, talking about things that didn’t really matter.

But we were already crazy about each other, so what we said didn’t really matter.

We got back to the Rolls-Royce and made out; we didn’t realize everyone could see!

The restaurant manager offered to drive us around for free.

We took a raincheck and went to Denny’s for breakfast.

It was getting late, so I drove very fast.

So that was the beginning of the ultimate romance.

It was, WOW, amazing, the most incredible dance.

We had our ups and downs, and sometimes it was tough.

But when I was with Tomoz, the days were never long enough.

It is true. When it comes to Tomoz, Enough Was Never Enough.

My “Crazy Arabian Horse” is a fiery, unforgettable poem. It was a vision that Stephen had the very first time they met. The black, beautiful Arabian horse was, of course, the spirit of Tomoz. Running for her life, trying to get away from her past. She was lying in his lap with her eyes closed. “You don’t need to run anymore, I said, ‘You are safe now.” She snuggled closer.

Stephen’s love for Tomoz—her beauty, brilliance, and her wild, untamed spirit was undeniable. The intensity of their love, celebrating a woman so extraordinary that she leaves a permanent mark on his heart, and promises of love for eternity

The moment I first saw you is a moment I will never forget.

Every minute, every moment I spent with you, I will never regret.

We shared so many special memories that I will always treasure.

You will always be the woman for me that no other woman, can possibly measure.

You were the most beautiful woman I had ever seen.

Being beside you was like living a dream.

Yet you were so much more than your indescribably beautiful looks.

You had the superstar personality people write about in books.

You were so sexy, intelligent, funny, elegant and bright.

You lit up everything and everyone, be it day or night.

Your passion for life was infectious and your heart was so giving.

You were an example of how everyone should really be living.

Not always that is true, you were not always your best.

But for the most part you were always way ahead of the rest.

With mental and physical gifts, you were certainly blessed.

You always liked to challenge me and put me to the test.

Tomoz I am so grateful that you came into my life.

I thought we would be married, that one day you would be my wife.

It just wasn’t to be this time and in the end, nature took its fatal course.

I know we will be together again and then I will run with you forever, for eternity, 4E4E X 23, my wonderful, amazing, crazy Arabian horse.
